The 5 Cheapest Towns in Lancaster, PA for Auto Insurance

Paying too much for car insurance?

Have you ever wondered “Where do I have to live in Lancaster County to get the cheapest possible auto insurance rate?” If not, you may be surprised that where you live can affect your insurance rate (for better or for worse.) Whether you’re just finding out about the correlation between insurance rate and location, or if you were already wondering where to go to get more affordable car insurance- I went ahead and did the guess work for you!

To conduct my research, I quoted myself up using Erie Insurance.  I used my own driving record, which has no accidents and no tickets within the past three years. I have a relatively good credit score, and I got a VIN number from a 2021 Toyota RAV4 XLE sport edition. I used this same information in my previous video, where we found out the five most expensive places in Lancaster for auto insurance.

For a bit of background, there are many factors that weigh into your auto insurance rate. The most commonly known ones are driving record, driving history, how many tickets you have, and how many accidents you’ve been involved in. Another factor (understandably) is the type of car you drive; boasting a Porsche, Maserati, or Lamborghini is going to be a lot more expensive than a Toyota Corolla or a Ford Fusion. A lesser-known factor is your credit score. The lower your credit score, the more expensive your auto insurance is going to be. One of the biggest factors of all though is location. If you live in an urban place- a city like Philadelphia for example, it’s going to be a lot more expensive than if you live in a place like Lancaster.

And now, beginning our countdown of cheapest places to get auto insurance in Lancaster County.

5. Lititz. Lititz comes in at $772 for the year. For me, through Erie Insurance in my Toyota RAV4, that comes out to $64.33 a month. Lititz is a smaller town- so it makes sense why they’re on the top five lists for cheaper auto insurance. $772 isn’t a bad premium!

4.  For number four we’re going a little smaller, to the small town of Manheim, Pennsylvania. Manheim came in at $768 for my auto premium for the year- or $64 a month. Manheim is a little smaller than Lititz- but just as full of character. They have some industry out there, some commercial properties, and a bustling rush hour along Route 72. This is also the location of the Manheim Auto Auction, which could very well increase the risk, as well as the price.

3. Elizabethtown. Elizabethtown came in at $766 for the year- or $63.83 a month. As you can see, we’re not quite at the cheapest, but we’re getting there.

2. Coming it at number two is Ephrata, Pennsylvania. Ephrata came in at $750 for the year or $62.50 a month.

1. For the last and least (at least when it comes to insurance rates!) is Leola, Pennsylvania. Auto insurance for me in Leola comes out to $719, only a $59.91 monthly payment. As you can see based on this list, that’s a big contrast. Let alone if we were to compare it to the most expensive in the county.

Bear in mind that I used all of the same information for the research in this article as I did for the research done in my “Most Expensive” article. The same vehicle, the Toyota RAV4, was $833 in Willow Street compared to the $719 on Leola. So if you think you’re paying too much for car insurance, maybe the best way to decrease your premium is to move to Leola, Pennsylvania. You get the chance to live near some awesome Amish attractions, it’s a great slower pace of life, and let’s be honest; it’s just beautiful out there. To wrap it all up- Leola is a pretty cool place and moving there you can save some money on your auto insurance.
